We headed out to Stanthorpe on a Bus for the weekend. The Itinerary included 5 Stanthorpe Wineries a couple of other local attractions. The best winery that we visited was Girraween Estate. The wines were all excellent and the wine maker is the one that talks about each wine.
For Saturday Night we stayed at The Vines Motel. It is in a good location close to town and very quiet. The rooms were nice and it is well priced. The Breakfast was good to. We had dinner at Anna’s Restaurant which is an Italian restaurent that has a buffet. The food is great and there are plenty of selections.
The Bramble Patch is a berry farm that has many different products. They have some really nice vinegar which I was surprised that we liked it. They have ice creams that they make with fresh berries which are really good.
In the morning we went to Mt Sterling Olives. They have great products as well as a fudge place and chili shop that has great sauces. For lunch we went to Thunderbolt Farm. They do mainly fresh German food and have a really nice restaurant. Best to book before going to make sure that they are open.
We did go to a few other wineries however they are not worth mentioning as they don’t have very good wine and are clearly just in it to grab some quick cash. There are over 80 wineries around the area now. Seven smaller wineries have got together and created the “Magnificent Seven”. They all create their own wine and grow their own grapes. All in all we had a great weekend and love visiting the Granite Belt.
