Maroochydore Holiday

For the June long weekend ended up having a Maroochydore holiday. I received a call from one of my friends that was getting married and he was wondering why we had not replied to his wedding invite. We did not receive it due to the quality Australia Post delivery system. They always deliver our mail to another suburb with the same post code as our street names are similar. They never forward the mail on like we do.

Anyhow the wedding was up at Maroochydore on the Friday before the long weekend so we decided to stay up here for the whole weekend since there was still plenty of accommodation available at a reasonable price. We stayed in an apartment called Catalina 2 in Cotton Tree. While the apartment building is not brand new it is well maintained and had everything you needed.

The Wedding was at the end of the spit at Mooloolaba and the weather was perfect. It is a great location for a wedding and a very relaxed atmosphere. The park is very well looked after and on a Friday was quiet and had a intimate feeling. The reception was at Ebb Restaurant in Maroochydore. The food was excellent and I could not fault it. The Coffin Bay oysters were unbelievable. The Mains were cooked perfectly.

We had buy one get one free passes from the entertainment book to Underwater World. We went there on Saturday with our son Harry. I would defiantly not pay full price to go there, however at half price it was ok. There is not that much to look at. The Seal Show is the highlight and it does go for a fair while and id well executed. You can easily complete it within 2 – 3 hours. When we were finished we went and got Fish and chips at the end of the road in to underwater world. There are plenty of places there and there. We then went across the road and ate them in the park.

For dinner we went to Maroochy Surf Club. It was quite busy and the meals were reasonable. I would expect slightly cheaper prices for a surf club and with the amount of people there they must be making good money.

On Sunday we went down to Mooloolaba to explore the rock pools and play at the beach. Once we were done there we went to one of the coffee shops for morning tea. We went to the shops and purchased some Sausages and bread for a BBQ in the park for lunch. It was quite cool in the afternoon so we just stayed in and relaxed. All in all it was a nice weekend.
