For our Honeymoon we decided to go to Thailand. We flew Thai Airways via Bangkok to Phuket. We landed at the airport and had transfers to our resort. We stayed at the Merlin Beach Resort. The Resort is about 15 minutes outside of the main resort area of Patong. On our way out to the resort we did wonder where we had booked since we were the only ones left on the bus and we were driving past some dodgy looking area. All was good when we arrived though. The resort was beautiful and very well maintained. It also had free transfers into town and we used that most of the time we were there.
We went to the Phuket Zoo (Possible Crock breeding business), Giant Buddah, Markets, Waterfall, Fantasea show and Phi Phi Island tour. We hired a taxi driver for the day and his name was Mr Chewi. He was great taking us around and only charging us a small fee.
After Phuket we spent a few days in Bangkok before flying home. In hindsight we should have done our trip the other way around so that we could relax at the end. We did a tour of the markets on the canals and the River kwai. It was an excellent tour. We also visited the Australian war memorial there. The MBK shopping centre is quite large with fake and real shops within it.
All in all the trip was excellent and Thailand was a worthy place to visit. You really need to barter in the markets to get a good price and be prepared to walk away. You also need to be aware of the taxi drivers and insist a price before you hop in.
